Tomato, Basil, and Balsamic White Pizza Recipe

Lately in our house, we have been on a pizza kick, and it’s been one specific pizza: a tomato, basil, and balsamic white pizza!

For this week’s Friday Favorites, I am going to share the recipe with you so you can share in the awesomeness that is this pizza.


  • Pizza Dough
  • Olive Oil
  • Fresh Mozzarella
  • Roma (or plum) tomatoes
  • Fresh Basil
  • Balsamic vinegar (Ours is the Traditional Balsamic from Saratoga Olive Oil. If you ever get a chance to visit one of these stores, do it! You get to wander around sampling olive oils and balsamic vinegars on little cubes of bread…honestly it’s a little dangerous.)
  • Garlic powder
  • Italian medley seasoning
  • Salt and pepper

I’m going to confess…I use store bought dough. This is such a simple pizza, and by using pre-made dough, it can be thrown together whenever the mood strikes. If you have a favorite dough recipe, by all means, use that.

The oven temperature will depend on the dough you are using, so follow the directions on the package or recipe.

After dusting some flour on your hands and pizza stone, stretch out the dough to the desired size.

Drizzle some oil on the dough, and spread it evenly with a spoon or pastry brush, and add the garlic powder and italian seasoning. I don’t actually measure anything on this pizza, just use what works for your family’s taste.


Slice up the fresh mozzarella and tomatoes and arrange them on the dough, and top with salt and cracked pepper.

Bake as directed for your dough choice.

I learned a little trick about basil from Rachael Ray that I love. When you buy fresh basil, DON’T put it in the fridge. It’s too cold and it bruises the leaves. Instead, put it in a glass of water just like fresh cut flowers. Open up a gallon ziplock bag and slip it right over the top of the glass, and it will act as a little steamy greenhouse for your basil. It will keep it fresh, and you can just pick off leaves as you need them.


Once the pizza comes out and it’s still hot, add your fresh basil and drizzle balsamic on top. YUM. It’s like caprese on a pizza and It. Is. Delicious.
